A VALENTINE'S GIVEAWAY (SEE DETAILS BELOW)
Each year as Valentine's Day gets a little closer, we pick a weekend to celebrate the holiday and have some fun with neighbors and friends turning our Valentine's Day party into a full playdate for all to enjoy! Personally, I can't resist the temptation to fill the room with heart decorations & I love pulling something together that all the kids of various ages can participate in!
And this year's even sweeter because one lucky winner will win an entire Valentine's Day prize pack - don't forget to enter at the bottom of this blog post!
For this year's theme, the kids and I chose a Love Bugs Valentine's Day! With just a few easy pieces of decor and some help from my party friends, I was able to transform our white console table to a kid friendly Valentine's buffet in the basement. This was a perfect place to party because the kids already have their play table and toys down there so we set this up against the wall and allowed them to have free run of the basement without cluttering the whole house with decor or a mess to cleanup later!
The party came together so nicely when I realized that Alison at Just Add Confetti offered these adorable and free love bug party printables on her blog which I was able to use for all the decor elements. She even includes the lady bug dots to embellish the red and green honeycomb party bug decorations and with all the options she provides I was able to create this fun heart garland too! Then I was chatting with my girlfriend Holly at Legally Crafty and she had the genius idea for these Love Bug fruit cups which were not only simple to make but a super affordable and age appropriate snack for the kiddos!
Once I had the printables picked, I knew I was going to splurge on some sweet treats. At first I thought I'd order cupcakes but I was a bit nervous about red frosting running around my house on a bunch of little hands. So I sent my party inspiration to Kelly at The Polka Dot Cookie (Minnesota orders only) and she created the cutest little love bug cookies I could have imagined!
After a few snacks and a couple of hours of play time the kids had a fantastic visit with friends! I always try to have an activity or two on hand since I'm usually hosting young kids who get easily distracted. Target's dollar spot is the place I browse first for small hands on crafts, cheap games, or affordable toys that go along with the party theme, but occasionally I'll get lucky with free printable coloring pages or an activity I find online too.
