Unlike when we were kids and the big to-do for Halloween was spending hours and hours trick-or-treating, we've started a bit of a new tradition with our kids and try to make the event of Halloween all about a playdate with their neighborhood friends the weekend before Halloween! It gives us parents a chance to visit with the neighbors we don't see as much in the fall and allows us all to actually see all the kids in their fun costumes without the hustle and chaos of Halloween night itself!
For this year's playdate I'll be using a mix of old and new decor items, pulling a few favorites out from the closet and adding a few new things too! I like to stick to traditional black & orange because it allows me to use the same decor from year to year but add a new twist to each year's party.
The mummy was a lucky find this fall from Homegoods! In my opinion, he has just the right element of fun to not be spooky for the kids and he makes a pretty cute fruit dish too! For the party printables I partnered with Meghan from Elva M Design's and of course all the party supplies came from our very own Halloween collection!
I ran out of time before I could make these for our playdate setup but I do love this DIY bat craft from Giggle Living as well... maybe an idea I'll have to save for next year! Directions can be found here, I hope someone can make them and share pictures of how these cute bats turn out!
This year's dessert couldn't have been more easy, I found this recipe Halloween Candy Oreo Bark reciepe from a Pumpkin and a Princess. It took a trip to Target to purchase all the right festive ingredients, but the dessert itself took under 10 minutes to make and includes loads of Halloween fun!
If you like this party playdate and happen to be reading between Oct 1 - Oct 5th, make sure to check us out on instagram (@sprinkles_and_confetti) because we've partnered with Elva M Designs & Legally Crafty to give one lucky winner a free Halloween collection!
Parties Made Simple.
